Mike McBride joined TeamSAI in 2006 bringing 12 years of Lean/Six Sigma and 18 years of commercial aviation expertise to the practice. His industry experience includes executive positions in the maintenance, cargo, and airport operations divisions at Delta Air Lines, corporate directorship of operational excellence at Timco Aviation Services, and founder/president of the Value Stream Engineering Group, Inc., a Lean/Synchronous Management consulting firm.

Mike was introduced to Six Sigma through Delta’s relationship with the Allied Signal Corporation in the mid 1990’s. He first achieved Black Belt level certification and later Master Black Belt certification based on an extensive training program and quantifiable project results. Mike’s Lean expertise comes via The Lean Institute at the University of Tennessee, where to date he has earned 3 levels of certification including Lean Enterprise Design, Lean MRO, and Lean Asset Management. He has trained numerous Lean/Six Sigma Green Belts and Black Belts, led major implementation efforts in varied work environments, and held leadership responsibility for projects resulting in millions in savings and capacity generation.

The key to sustaining a cycle of continuous improvement in an organization lies with its people. This simple truth is reflected in Mike’s approach to improvement initiatives. His implementation paradigm is centered on developing strong relationships within the business and mentoring changes agents and employees in order to create internal ownership of the change process.

In 2003, Mike completed his MBA in operations management at the University of Georgia where he studied under several noted experts in the field of synchronous management (also known as Theory of Constraints). During this time he also pursued his passion for systems dynamics and applied mathematics, completing revenue management projects for the Atlanta Falcons NFL franchise and developing an interline cargo tracking and reporting system for the SkyTeam Cargo alliance. He has since devoted much of his time to synthesizing elements of the Lean/Six Sigma and Synchronous Management philosophies to develop high impact, data driven approaches to continuous improvement specifically for the aviation sector.

Mike’s innovative approach to developing and empowering employee groups backed with solid science has produced dramatic results for his former employers and clients. He has created and implemented improvement initiatives in a variety of settings including: engineering, planning, operations, maintenance, manufacturing, call centers, logistics, supply chain operations, project management, and sales & marketing. His work has twice been published in industry periodicals and he enjoys participating as a guest speaker or panel member at continuous improvement events when his schedule allows.
